ControlMyWeight App Reviews

Not what I thought

I thought ControlMyWeight by CalorieKing would sync with diet and exercise information entered into the CalorieKing Program website. I was wrong. I can use ControlMyWeight or the CalorieKing Program website, but using both would be insane. Instead of ControlMyWeight, I recommends using the mobile version of the CalorieKing Program website. I wasted $4.99.

Amazing

As a type 1diabetic I need to be able to find carbs and other nutritional information and this app allows me to do that plus it helps me track my progress as well as how much water I have had which is a very useful feature

Almost Perfect Calorie Tracking App!

Great app! I love its clean look and, of course, reliable nutritional data for foods. It would be great to be able to easily track "net carbs". For now I have to do quick math every time I want to confirm my net carb consumption.

Awesome app

Updated review 2/25/1 I still stand by my review below. One additional request is when entering custom foods, please order the data entry fields to match a standard Nutrition Facts label. I end up jumping around to enter data. Previous review 2014 - Stable, clean design, easy to use! My only request is that they would give you an option to not allow your exercise calories burned to add to the overall calories you still need to eat during the day. I prefer to not eat my exercise calories, so I dont want them rolled in with my daily target.

Not Bad

Ive used a lot of calorie tracking applications. I like this one because it simple (when others are so unnecessarily complicated) but it does need a couple of fixes. One – a barcode scanner to find foods. Two – an update for iPhone six plus. The application does not look good on the larger screen.

Exactly what I needed

I have struggled to lose weight for many years. With me, so much of my trouble was getting discouraged with the huge changes most weight programs expected of me right from the beginning and the complexity of many weight loss apps. But then I found this app! It is so easy to use and it slowly but effectively guides you into weight loss if you stick with it. Goals it sets for you are reasonable, more attainable, and not as discouraging as other apps goals. I have found that their food base is not as complete as other apps and being able to scan the barcode would be a huge help. But I still LOVE this app and feel that is worth every penny I spent on it. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an easy to use weight loss app and one that will slowly but surely lead you to lose weight without all the harsh changes. Ive lost 20 lbs in 6 months now---its part of my life now and Im never going back!

Not great

It doesnt have many foods included. I like my fitness pal better and its free. Waste of money in my opinion. Wish I never purchased it.

Poor and over priced

Poor and over priced

The perfect tracker

I compared all the top apps including my plate, my fitness pal, lose it, and all the other top apps for tracking calorie and macronutrients. I checked multiple food items for the accuracy on all the apps and this app is by far the most accurate. It has the most attractive simple design and you can track your water easily. Its well worth the five dollars!

Disappointing

I have used the laptop version of Calorie King for years. It is excellent. But this iPhone version needs lots of improvement in design and function. I regret paying $5 for it, plus another $2 to get an advertising-free version. MyFitness Pal is way better and its free.

Doc4055

The iPhone version appears to be very user unfriendly. Trying to document food on a new day, it always defaults to previous days meals. Inputting the first day was great, after that its not worth the trouble, maybe just a glitch but wasted money clearly!

Dont Buy!

Dont waste your money! Not easy to use, too many steps to enter info, lousy database and more features on the web that are free. Been using FatSecret for years, it is much better and its free! Want my money back!

Not what you expect

I thought it would tell me how to burn it like on the website, but it doesnt. Also the app is a little confusing.

The tool you need if you want to measure intake

Has everything you need to start measuring all your intake, and little you dont. My diet and meal planning lives and dies by this app. Very intuitive and very, very precise.

Disappointed

Today is my first day to use it. Ive had expectations since my endocrinologist diabetes educator recommended this app and sold me the book calorie king. The calorie and carb information on the app dont match up accurately with the nutrition label on food item. Frustrating!!! The orange juice I tried to record showed 39 cal the container read 120 cal!! Hope I can still make this app work for me.

Its just what you need!

I have been using this app for two years. I love the ability to copy foods and meals, and the ability to quickly find my favorite foods. It is always with me, and there is no excuse for "forgetting" to add in everything eaten. It really helps me be accurate with daily intake, and to plan what I am able to have. It is a winner in my book! The only thing better is if the app could have my phone weigh food portions.

Good but needs more

I love the search function and database of food, but it would be really great if it synced across devices or you could export or email daily logs. Keep working on it please.

Really needs a barcode scanner and bigger database

I used Calorie King for a long time and really loved it, but now that so many other apps have the barcode scanning function, its something I really think would be helpful for CK to incorporate. Also, I have a somewhat restricted diet due to food allergies, so I have to eat a lot of specialty foods (e.g. gluten-free). Unfortunately, I wasnt able to find many of these foods in the CK database (e.g. Udis gluten-free tortillas). I also do a lot of my own cooking and very rarely eat out (especially not at fast food places), so a little bit easier food entry would be a big help.

Love this app

I cook a lot and really like that I can create recipes and custom food within my program and not be bound by an online database that needs to be logged into. Ive tried all the other apps and they all require a login and password to get started. Calorie King works great for me and Ive lost 30 pounds and maintained my weight for 6 months now. I have noticed that calorie kings calories are not always accurate with the packages labels, and while this is certainly an inconvenience, manually adjusting the portion to equal the items nutritional information is nominal compared to the ease and simplicity of the rest of the app. 3 members of my family bought this app when they saw my results and that it worked. This is my go to app. Love it!

Ok for a while but ditched this app

Its a great app in every way but one. I loved how it gave you nutritional details on your meals or days totals. The app is well made and user friendly... EXCEPT for one thing that drove me crazy... The food measurements...almost all in ounces or grams. Nearly never in cups or the size of the food. Very few choices on size of produce. Very accurate if youre obsessive enough to weigh every single thing you eat. Ugh. No thanks. I tried and then ended up not bothering to track anything. But I need to and so I switched to LoseIt. I dont like their model or features or UI nearly as much BUT I can easily measure my food and track it...which is the whole point. Change the measurement issue and Id buy this app all over again, but until then... deleted.
